Literature Text

Precious time wasted during petty fights
Life moves way too fast
Can’t we slow it down?
Before our eyes
Life passes us bye
Before we know it
We’re adults
Making our own choices
Choosing our own path
We want the moments of our youth to last forever
The laughter, jokes
Even those silly games
But they don’t last
They speed right on by
And you’re left with the memories of your yester-year
And the promise of tomorrow

We cling to the precious things of our youth
In hopes they’ll keep us young
Hoping they’ll keep the memories of our yester-year alive
But they don’t
Those precious moments fade
Just as time does
They fade into our backgrounds
Becoming a piece of yesterday

I want them to last
These precious moments
They should last ‘til the end of time
But since we don’t…
…they don’t…

So cherish the precious moments of your life
Cause when they’re gone
That’s it
There is no more.
I got inspired to write another poem about, I guess, one's youth. I'm calling it Precious because, Life in its self is precious. And some of the moments in life are even more precious.
